"After the Rain" a watercolour by Adele Doxey. I so relished doing this lively watercolour following a storm in my town. I loved the irripressable nature of this fushia plant who's colours zinged out of the mist and darkness, capturing the light and reflecting it back, slightly battered but still rising to remind me that after every storm there is calm, after every ending there is a new begining.
This seems particularly relevant to me right now. The end of 2012 and so far, 2013 is all about endings. I am hoping that new beginings will be around the corner. Here, a little positive affirning comes in handy as my life is taking strange unexpected turns, really everything is up in the air just now.
I know that my mind will take a little while to catch up. I need to apply patience and discipline to find new ways of perceiving this new reality.
A good and simple mind tool to use at this time is affirmative thinking. Actively affirming positive thoughts, out loud, in writing or silently at this time allows a healing shift to occur and helps new perceptions to settle within. This in turn provides a platform to relationships with the world, yourself and others. Thus creating new opportunities.
During this challenging time, if I leave my mind to wander it's own path, the tendency is to ramble into fear based thinking, not helping at all. Don't get me wrong, I am not about to go into denial about what I am feeling or what is going on, but instead, acknowledge it and work with it to turn things around. This frees my energy to deal with stuff constructively rather than retreating into confusion, apathy or fear.
Affirmations are really simple and effective way of taking control of the mind, particularly when it is under pressure from fears and worries. Affirmations change your energy, your perception your interaction and this is when you can allow the novel, the new to flow into your life.
So, today I am acknowledging the transisiton and giving thanks for unknown blessings already on their way
" I allow wonderful things to flow into my life".
Try it, you may get striking results. Hope you have a weekend filled with wonderful blessings, happiness and light. Enjoy the ride !!!
