Look at these ripening fruits. They practically zing with juice!! "Ripening in the Midday Sun" a zingy, zesty watercolour by Adele Doxey.
As the seasons begin to change, and harvest time nears I am delighted by the thought that all these ripening berries and fruits appear to me like jewels hanging from the trees. So precious and perfect each one. I am looking forward to a visit to Portugal, and I hope I can catch the time when all the trees will be heavy with fruit, I can practically smell it from here, all the limes, oranges and lemons.
In the meantime I am enjoying the sights, tastes and smells of our own hedgerows and I am sure they will spark some painting spells in me as I revel in these jewels of the trees.
As we live in this work a day life, it reminds us that eventually we will harvest, and reap what we sow. So steadily, steadily, tend to your seedlings of ideas, protect them from frosty souls and those who would dry you out. water and feed them just enough, watch them grow into tall trees and then bear fruit. What more natural thing can there be on this earth than to bring forward our own creations. and when you think about it, when all these miracles occur naturally in life, what could you allow to happen with minimal interference from you, and what surprises will the universe bring you?
I am reminded today of a conversation with a new Facebook friend who was feeling old. (He is very young by the way). I reminded him, to grow old is awful, but to ripen, now that is something else indeed. Let this harvest sun ripen you. Happy ripening.
