I started my day in the most perfect way I can think of. Painting in my garden. It is mid August and I can sense the tang of autumn in the air and I feel excited. It is one of my favourite times of the year and as it turns out it is my favourite time of life too : ).
The air is still warm and the sun is burnishing and ripening. The garden is still lovely and I am enjoying it so much. I just can't stop painting Fushia's they have been so gorgeous this year. I never really know what is going to capture my heart, eyes, spirit and imagination. The world holds such rich variety. My love affair with Fushia's just began this year actually, though I have always appreciated them, I am looking at them in a very different way. The way they sit across the stem, pendulous, decorous and gorgeous. All lined up like little ballerinas or bright juicy jewels. Delicate and pretty, yet strong in shape, texture and colour. Lucscious!!!
This is the second in my Fushia series and is called "second flowering". The Fushias are now coming into their second bloom. Just as a number of my friends, colleagues and clients are too. How wonderful and fitting. In a few days they will be just as lovely again as they have been all summer, finding somehow the strength of character and purpose that if I 'd been impatient I might have dug them up, bagged them, put them away and missed !! Oh thank you for laziness or patience (not sure which). Anyway left to their own devices, here they are ready to flower again. More beautiful for the lateness of the flowering and the surprise that they have given us.
Apparently fuschia (a relative of the magenta) is THE hot colour and flower for weddings this year, and I can see why.
Fushia represents emotional stability, amiablility, confiding love and good taste. Fine sentiments to wish a newly married couple. This little bit of gorgeousness is available to buy, tastefully framed, see online shop.
